PYL Girls Programs:

Petaluma Youth Lacrosse offers girls lacrosse programs for all ages! We attempt to field a beginner/intermediate team and an advanced team at each of the US Lacrosse recommended age divisions. For the 2018 Season we will be fielding teams in the following divisions: (decriptions attached)

  • 8U Red & Black: Teams are balanced with expereinced and beginner players. This level is all about exploring the sport, making new friends and having fun. No score is kept and games are played in the North Bay region with a few larger festivals and/or tournaments in the East Bay.
  • 10U Red: Teams are balanced with expereinced and beginner players. This level is all about exploring the sport, making new friends and having fun. Score is kept and games are played in the North Bay region with a few larger festivals and/or tournaments in the East Bay. Unlike most sports beginning to play lacrosse at this age bracket is typical and your child will not be behind others.
  • 12UB Red: Teams are balanced with expereinced and beginner players. This level is all about reinforcing technical skills while learning game strategies and team play. Score is kept and games are played in the North Bay region with a few larger festivals and/or tournaments in the East Bay. Unlike most sports beginning to play lacrosse at this age bracket is typical and your child will be a welcomed part of the team.
  • 12UA Black: Teams are balanced with intermediate and advanced players. This level continues to reinforce technical skills, team strategy and social/emotional development. To challenge the players more empahsis is placed on the following categories: athletic skills (agility, speed, strength etc); advanced technical skills, psychological development (goal setting, dealing with a challenging game etc.); and tactical team strategy. Score is kept and games are played with other A teams in the NCJLA  League (www.ncjla.org). This team requires additional time committement since games must be played with other conference and non conference opponents.
  • 14UA Red: Teams are balanced with intermediate and advanced players. This level continues to reinforce technical skills, team strategy and social/emotional development. To challenge the players more empahsis is placed on the following categories: athletic skills (agility, speed, strength etc); advanced technical skills, psychological development (goal setting, leadership etc.); and tactical team strategy. Score is kept and games are played with other A teams in the NCJLA  League (www.ncjla.org). This team requires additional time committement since games must be played with other conference and non conference opponents. Beginners and Intermediate players are encouraged to join since the team also plays against beginner teams in the local area. It never to late to learn something new!
  • GHS Black: Teams are balanced with intermediate and advanced players. We have one level which is Varsity. This level reinforces all skills learned at the previous levels. Beginners are encouraged to join since this division is typically the jumping point to a State of CA CIF program. To challenge the players more empahsis is placed on the following categories: athletic skills (agility, speed, strength etc); advanced technical skills, psychological development (goal setting, leadership, lacrosse IQ etc.); and tactical team strategy. Score is kept and games are played with other HS teams in the NCJLA  League (www.ncjla.org). This team requires additional time committement since games must be played with other conference and non conference opponents. Practices are 3 times a week with 1-2 games per weekend. (Games are either on Sunday afternoon or Saturday morning.

What is Friday Night Lights?

FNL is an event open to the public to try lacrosse for free or for expereinced players to practice/scrimmage. The girls program is coached by US Lacrosse Certified coaches and NCAA stand outs. We also have guest coaches from some of the elite travel teams. Our goal is to make sure that any girl that wants to learn or play lacrosse has the ability to do so. No request is to big please contact us asap. Loaner equipment is available at check in tent.

  • 8U and below: 5:30-6:30 (check in at tent by 5:15)
  • 10U and below: 5:30-6:30 (check in at tent by 5:15)
  • 12U and below: 6:30-8pm (Check in at tent by 6:15)
  • 14U and below: 6:30-8pm (Check in at tent by 6:15)
  • GHS (9th through 12th grade, 18-19 years and in HS ok) 6:30-8pm (Check in at tent by 6:15)
